We that have eyes to see and ears to hear can learn easily. But Helen Keller could not as she was both blind and deaf. Even in her affliction, she did not allow herself to be handicapped. She made full use of all the other faculties she had, to such and advantage that she became the world's well-known teacher of the blind and deaf.

Each animal and plant in the world has its own environment, the place where it can live most easily. Each animal needs other animals and plants which live in the same environment. In Arctic, polar bears eat seals and fish, seals eat fish, and big fish eat smaller fish. The small fish eat very small animals and plants in the sea. This is called a food chain.

A thirsty crow found a pitcher with some water in it, but there was so little that the crow could not reach it with her beak. It seemed that she would die of thirst within sight of what could save her. At last she hit upon a clever plan. She began dropping pebbles into the piitcher. With each pebble, the water rose a littlehigher until it reached the brim. The knowing bird was able to quench her thirst.

You forget most quickly right after you read or hear something new. You should review at once so you won't forget, and if possible, explain it to someone else. When you review and test yourself on the material, you are being active; active learning is better than just reading or listening. You remember more and save time in the end if you spend at least one-third of your time on active review.

Have you ever seen a forest fire? It is a terrifying thing to see. The flames run along the ground licking up the leaves and dead branches. No wonder those whose homes are near gather quickly to fight the fire. If the fire cannot be stopped, these people will lose everything. I was not a greedy man, but I thought half a million dollars was a rather high price for keeping my freedom. I therefore decided to make the great sacrifice. It was easier said than done. The doctor was certain my uncle would be dead within two weeks. That put me in a difficult position. Besides being forty years old, Iwas also ugly. I had no lady friends. I couldn't possibly advertise myself as wealthy until I inherited my uncle's fortune. Advertise! What a good idea!

Remember to buy fruit and vegetables in season. The seasonal ones would cost much less. The fresher the produce, the higher the nutritional value and the better the taste. Do not buy fruit that is very ripe unless you are going to use it at once. Fruit can quickly become overripe.

Although there are many different sizes and types of vending machines, they all work basically in the same way. The customer puts a coin into the machine and then pushes a button, pulls a lever, or opens a door to receive the merchandise. Some machines will also return change to the customer, and a few will make change for paper money. But the basic idea is the same. Customers like to save time and are usually willing to pay a higher price for this convenience.
